Sammus’ first interview
So one day while I was perusing the interwebs, looking for good music, I came across Sammus, whose name is taken from the bad-ass main character in the classic Nintendo game Metroid. I listened to a couple of beats, and quickly realized she uses the same method I use when I’m messing around on my Macbook trying to make a beat. The only difference - her beats don’t sound like absolute garbage. It turns out musical abilities run her in fam - her brother is the guitarist in gym class heroes. She also uses a lot of different samples you wouldn’t expect to be found in hip-hop songs. Check out her myspace page and see if you can spot them.
